You have to move with them to attack provinces. Those heroes are the avatars of your army on the world map.You start with one and unlock more later.Those heroes replace the explores/monks/etc.This would speed up the conquest of provinces in the later parts of the campaign.Units can also be economic or building wagons.Costs and type of units available could depend on continent.They are only available for one battle when used.Those units are directly available at the beginning of the battle.Global resources could be used to build an army:.Upgrade Washington DC to unlock Sharpshooter.Some provinces might need to be upgraded to get anything:.Upgrade Yucatan to unlock Cruzob Avenger on top of Cruzob Infantry.Upgrade Rome to get Papal Lancers on top of Papal Guards.Or invest into a province to unlock a global bonus from that province.Permanent modifiers (10% coin collection rate or 10% cavalry health).Extra starting buildings (like a Barracks).Global resource pool that can be invested into provinces to get in that province when defending:.Cold weather (units slowly lose health when not close to a building).Random modifiers that can appear on some provinces:.Asymmetric starting conditions for attacker and defender.Some province could have a design similar to the historical maps:.health/attack/range (based on minor civilisation technologies for example) Unlock of trainable mercenaries (would be available for most mercenaries).Extra shipments that don’t have to be added to the deck.Local bonuses that are only available in adjacent provinces:.Religious building (Church, Mosque, etc.) can ship Papal Guards after conquering Rome.Unlock Gurkha Mercenary after conquering Nepal.Permanent bonuses for important provinces:.Mercenary (Tavern, monastery etc.) discount shipment after conquering Switzerland.Ship Cruzob Infantry after conquering Yucatan.Ship improved Jäger mercenaries after conquering the province of Hessia.Unlocking unique cards by conquering a province.The Dawn of War campaigns were also like that so they could ask Relic for help and inspiration. Never thought about it but AoE3DE already has a lot of systems that could work very well with it.Īlso this could finally be a AoE DLC that isn’t just civilisations.Ĭonquering the world province by province could be interesting.
